I am looking to buy a pair of 1 carat diamond earrings for my girl for x-mas, and am trying to not wait until the last minute. I have done a little bit of looking at the mall at the little jewelry stores, although I am pretty sure that they are not the place to buy from. They all had two grades of earrings, better and best. I am not very knowledgable about this at all. I know there are grades and colors of diamonds, but all I remember them saying was better and best quality. In those terms, I guess I am looking to get the best quality diamonds. I want them to be princess cut and in white gold. What is a good price to pay for earrings like this? The shops were anywhere from $2400 to $3000. Any suggestions on where to buy from? Is online shopping a horrible idea, considering I am completely uneducated in diamond shopping? I live in New Jersey just outsde of Philadelphia if that matters. Is it worth waiting until closer to x-mas for better sales? Any info is greatly appreciated.
