Hi, I want to buy a pair of solitare diamond stud earrings but can’t decide on the size, is 1/2 CT too big for every day wear? I’m sporty and I don’t want to look like I’m overdoing it. Thanks for your help!
I meant 1/2 total, btw. I just want a classy simple look, thanks!

I need advice on diamond earrings?

I want to buy my wife a pair of diamond stud earrings. What size is a good size, without being overpowering? I was thinking 1/2 karat total weight. Is that too small?
Also, do you prefer round or princess cut?
Finally, I was looking at some better quality diamonds (near colorless), but I saw some that had a distinctive darker color that I thought were nice looking.
Would it be better to go with a clearer, more expensive diamond or do you think it makes that much difference with a smaller diamond? I like the color of the ones I saw (they seemed to have a blackish tent, but they still sparkled), but I don’t want her to think I went cheep. I want this to be a special gift. I don’t wnat to ask her because I also want this to be a surprise.

I was looking to get some diamond earrings for my mum for her 45th birthday since I’ve never really gotten her something great like that before. My parents are having a big dinner party and I thought it would compliment her attire really well.

Also, is this a good gift? I didn’t want to be lame and go with the usual kitchen appliance thing.

Thanks for any info!

I will be able to change my earrings from the ugliest piercing studs ever invented next week, and I would really like a pair of small diamonds.

I don’t mean big, expensive ones. Just small, cheap cut, low grade, possibly flawed ones - just to give that little bit of sparkle.

The thing is, I don’t want to buy ones that fund civil wars in African countries. Is there any way I can be sure they come from an ethical source, using a more reliable information than the salesman who calls himself a ‘jeweller’, and who is probably on commission?

If I can’t, then I’ll be going for fake (CZ) ones.

I recently bought some earrings online from Macy’s. They had this
big promotion advertised online and TV. So, I bought some. I’ve seen emerald cut and thought 1/2 carat would be fine for me. Now that I see these 1/2 carat round cut diamond earrings, they seem extremely small to me. They seem like they are not 1/2 carat at all, but I don’t know for sure. I need advice. Help me. ;-)
