I’m getting my girlfriend a set of diamond earrings for Christmas. I know clarity and color are important when it comes to engagement rings, but is the same true for a set of diamond earrings? What is the average color and clarity of a diamond earring? Thanks!

I just “traded up” my pair of diamond earrings, and the pair I got are in a “basket setting”. They have a lower profile, which is perfect for me because I wear them 24/7 (also b/c of the screw backs). Anyhow, they the tcw is .5 and I+, SI..originally $1899, but on sale for $737..plus my credit from upgrade. Was that a good deal? It seems too good to be true, and why isn’t basket setting popular anymore? They sparkle so much, and it’s nice that they don’t poke out far. I’m just weary b/c the sales lady seemed a tad “snakey”. So, any thoughts on basket setting?
Answer to Randi: That is how Brendan Diamonds/JC Keepsake does their earrings. At least an I. Is that bad? I figured it’s just I and that was good for earrings. Obviously, I didn’t do my homework. The store I go to in Ft. Collins closed, so I have to go to Cheyenne, WY to get them fixed (checked twice a year for warranty) so I’m stuck.

Not great quality diamonds-will they look better in yellow or white gold? Does any any body know a reputable jeweler in So. Cal. area?

my son wants to get his ear pierced, but i won’t let him. i told him he could wear diamond earrings, only if they were fake. where could i get them?

Also would it look cheap, i just want more diamonds on my finger! haha!!
The price of a new setting would be way too much, i’ve looked into it. It would cost around $300 just for the setting. I was hoping the soldering would only be around $100 or less. Anybody have any clues if i’m in the right ballpark, let me know! I’ve tried lookinf it up online but have gotten nowhere. Okay, Thanks!
